Toyota unveils new Verso-S MPV

The compact Toyota Verso-S people carrier arrives in 2011.

Toyota has revealed its plans for the Paris Motor Show. The only all-new model to appear on the Japanese maker's stand will be the Verso-S, a mini-MPV that will compete against the Honda Jazz and Kia Venga.

Little information on the Verso-S has been released as yet, though it will apparently be the shortest B-segment MPV on sale in Europe, which means it will take up less space than the 3,900mm long Honda Jazz. Other than that it's safe to assume Toyota will offer its 1.33-litre petrol engine (with stop-start) and the 1.4-litre D4-D turbodiesel in the Verso-S. Following its world debut in Paris, the new car should hit Ireland in early 2011.

You may miss the Verso-S on the Toyota stand though, as the company is devoting a lot of space to its hybrid technology, including an interactive Hybrid Synergy Drive Gallery. Toyota is celebrating ten years of full hybrid production and the FT-CH compact hybrid supermini concept will be on display.

Minor interior updates for the Toyota iQ and Aygo will also debut at the Paris show, which opens its doors to the media on September 30.
