BMW reveals 4 Series with M Performance parts

BMW allows high level of customisation for new 4 Series.

BMW has announced that a range of M Performance parts for the upcoming 4 Series are to be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The upgrades are both visual and performance related and are set to be available early next year.

Exterior
BMW is offering a full M Performance body kit for the 4 Series comprising of a front splitter, sill extensions, spoiler and rear diffuser. To go with the body kit, two designs of 20-inch alloy wheel are available; one of which can be seen on the car pictured above. BMW has also introduced 18-inch winter wheels to ensure the 4 Series is still usable when the roads gets slippery. Black versions of BMW's signature kidney grille can also be specified, as can bespoke door mirror housings and painted brake callipers.

Interior
The cabin upgrades start with the steering wheel, which can be swapped for an M Performance version with a red central marking. Both the handbrake and gear stick can be had in carbon fibre with a gaiter made from Alcantara. Steel pedals and branded M Performance floor mats are also on the options list.

Mechanicals
Naturally, the M Performance upgrades include Power Kits. The 420d, 430d and 435i can all be fitted with these packs; giving both horsepower and torque upgrades without affecting emissions or fuel economy. An upgraded exhaust system gives more noise to go with the extra grunt; and a combination of a limited slip differential, a sportier suspension set up and M Performance brakes work together to keep the car on the road.

Anything else?
As well as the 4 Series, M Performance upgrades can also be had for the BMW 1-, 3-, 5- and 6 Series ranges. The latest offering will be on display on the BMW stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which runs from 10th-22nd September 2013.
