Honda reveals next-gen NSX racer

Wow! Honda NSX turned into race car even before it hits the road.

Oh, nothing much, just that we may need a cup of tea and a quiet lie down. Why? Only because Honda has released details (and plenty of photographs) of a racing car based around the latest NSX concept. We may have become a bit over excited at this fact.

The NSX Concept GT will make its racing debut at the fearsome Suzuka circuit in Japan, in a round of the 2014 Super GT Series. The car uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (distinctly different from the concept's 3.5-litre V6) and of course added power from the hybrid electric drivetrain.

Doubtless Honda is keen to show off both the NSX's sultry shape as well as its racing prowess as it gears up to re-enter Formula One in 2015 with McLaren. In the meantime, feast your eyes on these photos and let the drooling commence.

Anything else?
This isn't the first NSX race car. Honda's original, legendary NSX also raced in Super GT and also made appearances at Le Mans in '94, '95 and '96.
