Mercedes Sprinter gets new safety features

Latest Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van comes with a variety of standard and optional safety kit.

Mercedes' new Sprinter van has arrived in Ireland with a range of standard and optional safety features, some of which are described as 'world firsts' for a vehicle of this type. Expect to see the first new Sprinters in showrooms from this Saturday, 21st September.

Standard equipment includes Crosswind Assist, which is designed to keep the van on course even in strong side-winds. This system should allow the driver to relax and enjoy the new, 'state of the art' electronic entertainment system.

Optional safety equipment includes Collision Prevention Assist to warn if the van gets too close to moving traffic ahead and Blind Spot Assist. There is also Lane Keeping Assist to warn against wandering off course and High Beam Assist for optimal use of the headlights.

Power comes from Euro VI compliant diesel engines with four- or six-cylinder units available. Manual or automatic transmissions can be specified and maintenance intervals have been extended to 60,000km.

Anything else?
The new Sprinter can be identified by its prominent radiator grille with body colour surround and new-look headlamps. At the rear the lights have also been redesigned.
