Hyundai i20 WRC has altitude

Hyundai has resumed testing the i20 WRC with a week of high-altitude work in Spain.

Testing the Hyundai i20 WRC has resumed testing after a short break in September; a three-day session in France was followed by a week of high-altitude testing in Southern Spain.

Team Principal Michel Nandan said: "For the last couple of months we've tested every two weeks on all kinds of conditions and surfaces to continue the collection of valuable feedback and data. After the Finland test, it was very important for us to take a short break back at the factory in order to review and evaluate the work done so far as the schedule will be even busier from now on."

In mid-September the team travelled from Germany to France for a three-day test session on tarmac, followed by a week in the South of Spain driving the i20 on gravel. Next year's FIA World Rally Championship includes stages in Mexico up to 2,500 metres above sea level, which makes it critical that the car can perform at altitude. One of the objectives of the test was to monitor the impact on engine power while also developing a gravel set-up and clocking up some more development miles.

Anything else?
Hyundai Motorsport's test programme will continue over the next three months as there are just over 100 days until the 2014 WRC begins.
