Kia teases Detroit-bound sports car

More renderings preview Kia's first ever sports coupé.

Kia has now released a second teaser shot of its first ever sports car that is destined to make its public debut at the Detroit Auto Show later this month. The latest rendering shows just the front end of the new model - dubbed the 'GT4 Stinger Concept' - and compliments the single, overhead image the company released last month.

Exterior
Aside from the GT4 Stinger's coupé-like proportions seen in the first picture, and the low, wide stance the new shot reveals, Kia has also released a little new information. Firstly, the grille. Yes, it's Kia's latest signature item; however, the surround actually glows white as opposed to just being painted. Bookending the grille are the headlights comprised of seven rows of LEDs that are also likely to act as the car's daytime running lamps.

Atop the bonnet there are two inlets that feed air into the engine, and Kia also says that it has front brake cooling vents that distribute air around its 20-inch alloy wheels. Another item unclear on the somewhat dark image is that of a front splitter that, Kia claims, is in fact aerodynamically efficient at speed.

Mechanicals
Under the bonnet of the GT4 Stinger Concept is a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that sends a healthy 315hp to the rear wheels.

Anything else?
Kia is likely to continue keeping its cards close to its chest about the GT4 Stinger Concept until the model's official unveiling at the Detroit Auto Show this month.
