Added luxury for 'baby' Rolls

Limited edition V-Specification announced for Rolls-Royce Ghost.

Rolls-Royce adds V-Specification to its Ghost models, but thankfully this is no Nissan GT-R-rivalling track handling package; instead, it adds another level of ultimate luxury to the already opulent Roller. But move quick, lucky plutocrats, as you can only 'commission' your improved Ghost for the next six months.

Exterior
You'll be able to spot one of these limited edition V-Specification Ghosts (it applies to both the standard and Extended Wheelbase versions) from the coachlines, which run along the Ghost's handsome body, and which feature the 'V' motif on the front wing. The more ostentatious owners will perhaps assist Rolls spotters by selecting the optional chrome exhausts and massive 21-inch part-polished alloy wheels. Customers will also get a choice of five specially selected exterior hues, but if that sounds a bit too limited, Rolls-Royce has a 44,000-colour palette to truly baffle the indecisive.

Interior
That 'V' motif mentioned earlier is carried over to the splendid, handcrafted cabin, where you'll find it engraved into the treadplates, embroidered on the rear armrest and adorning hand-applied steel inlays to the front multimedia screen lid. Meanwhile, horologists can delight in an exclusively designed clock with a black crown surrounding the face.

Mechanicals
The monster 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 engine in the Ghost develops 571hp (which we believe Rolls-Royce used to refer to as 'adequate', but now terms 'more than ample'), but V-Specification adds another 30hp to that, taking the grand total to a fulsome 601hp. Acceleration is suitably brisk, with 0-100km/h imperiously swatted away in less than five seconds - furthermore, Rolls-Royce says 80 per cent of the V12's power is available from idle.

Anything else?
V-Specification is available from January to June 2014 and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars' chief executive Torsten Müller-Ötvös says the limited series "celebrates one of Ghost's defining characteristics; the exquisite 6.6-litre V12 engine". The 'elegantly applied design touches' of the series are intended to hint at the ultimate Ghost's 'inherent dynamism'. No word, though, on how much cash this package will add to the car's already lofty list price... and doesn't one know it's frightfully uncouth to ask?
