The new-look Citroen C4 Picasso and the seven-seat Grand C4 Picasso will make their debut at the Paris Motor Show later this week (September 29).
The update marks the introduction of Citroen's e-HDI 'micro-hybrid' technology in this part of the world. Despite the tag, it's just an engine start-stop system linked to a 110hp HDi diesel engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, but it results in impressive efficiency.
The system uses a reversible alternator that captures brake energy to charge the battery, as well as performing start-stop duties. With it, the C4 Picasso uses 4.8 litres/100km on the combined cycle and the Grand Picasso 4.9 litres/100km. Emissions are 125- and 132g/km respectively.
The facelift is standard issue stuff, including a mild front-end redesign, new rear light clusters and some daytime LEDs for more expensive models. Buyers can also order a 'black top', which paints the door handles, mirror caps and alloy centre caps in gloss black. VTR+ models now get rear parking sensors, electric mirrors and Bluetooth as standard.
We expect the new car to arrive in Ireland early in 2011.
