Lotus reveals special edition Exige LF1

Black and gold paint, a few key extras and a plaque to commemorate each Lotus F1 win.

Lotus is celebrating its F1 heritage by revealing a limited edition version of Exige S, called the LF1. There'll be 81 in total, to mark each and every one of Lotus' wins in the sport.

Exterior
The paint scheme is the big news here, evoking those wonderful John Player Special Lotuses of days gone by. It's black and gold with red accents, while the 17-inch front, 18-inch rear cast alloy wheels are painted gold. There are also some LF1 badges to be found scattered over the Exige's body.

Interior
The black and gold theme continues inside, while there will also be a carbon fibre build plaque, which will sequentially mark a specific victory - so car no.1 will mark Lotus' first GP win at Monaco in 1960, while no.81 is for Kimi Raikkonen's win at Australia in 2013. We'll leave it to you to work out the numbers in between. LF1 owners will luxuriate in leather and 'technical fabric' seats with gold contrast piping and stitching, with LF1 logos on the headrests and floor mats and a Lotus F1 Team emblem on the seat backs. There's an optional Convenience Pack, as well as the ability to spec heated seats and even rear parking sensors.

Mechanicals
The supercharged 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine remains unchanged, with 350hp at 7,000rpm and 400Nm at 4,500rpm, good enough for a 0-100km/h time of 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 274km/h. Official fuel consumption is 10.1 litres/100km and CO2 emissions are 236g/km. There are some mods as part of the Race Pack with Dynamic Performance Management fitted as standard, chief of which are two-piece high performance brake discs with red brake callipers. The differing size alloys also wear Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tyres and there's a bespoke carbon fibre engine plate for the V6 motor too.

Anything else?
The Exige LF1 will be available in all of Lotus' global markets, except the US. It is on show now at the Canary Wharf Motorexpo in London, while further examples will be exhibited at Le Mans and the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month.
