Toyota Aygo priced

Second generation Toyota Aygo now available from €12,625.

Toyota Ireland has confirmed pricing and specification for its new Aygo, which went on sale yesterday (June 30). A three-door version of the striking looking small car is available from €12,625, rising to €15,770 for the five-door model with the automated manual 'x-shift' transmission.

In total three trim levels are on offer with two further special editions and four customisation packs. All Aygos are powered by a 69hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine with a choice between a five-speed manual gearbox and the x-shift automatic - the latter adds €1,000 to the asking price.

All cars come equipped with central locking, electric front windows, LED daytime running lights and a USB connection for the radio. The entry-level Aygo 'x' gets 14-inch steel wheels and hubcaps and a 'carbon textured' X on the front grille. Buyers have to step up to x-play (€13,180) to get niceties such as 15-inch alloy wheels (of which there are 18 variants to choose from), front fog lights, body coloured mirrors and handles and Bluetooth connectivity. The x-play+ model (€14,400) further adds air conditioning, the seven-inch 'x-touch' infotainment system with reversing camera and a piano black rear diffuser.

Personalisation comes to the fore in the x-play and x-play+, with options packs such as OUTstand, OUTglow, INspire and Intense, allowing the buyer to tailor the car to their preferences. As the names would suggest there are two exterior and two interior packs allowing changes to the colours or finish of items such as the front X, rear bumper insert, alloy wheels, roof colour, interior air vent and gear lever surround. Prices for the packs run from the €135 INspire pack up to €660 for the OUTstand exterior pack. Or you could skip the personalisation packs and go straight for the limited edition models, which pack the best parts of each. The x-cite is priced from €14,930 and is available exclusively in Orange Twist paintwork with a contrasting Bold Black X grille. The limited edition also features air conditioning, the seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a rear view camera and more black and orange interior trim than you can shake a stick at.

Should orange not be your thing you can instead opt for the €15,010 x-clusiv special edition, which comes in Bold Black with Shiny Silver contrasting parts, 15-inch alloy wheels, climate control, the seven-inch touchscreen system with rear view camera and a classy black and silver interior.

Anything else?
Confused by the number of options and personalisation items for the Aygo? Fear not as a configurator is on its way that will allow buyers to design their ideal car and either email it to a dealer or print it out to bring along.
