Remember that growly Liam Neeson speech in Taken, where he threatens some Euro-criminals down the phone, saying he will hunt them down and find them? Well, that's what DS is offering with its new DS Connect system - a built in vehicle locator and tracker.
Note that I said DS there, and not Citroen. Since June of this year, DS has been a standalone brand and you'll struggle to find a single Citroen chevron amongst the current line-up of DS 3 (which has now racked up an impressive 500,000 sales worldwide), DS 4 or DS 5. The DS stand at the Paris Motor Show also features a gorgeous Divine DS concept, which will eventually morph into a new DS 4 we believe. Citroen hopes that it will be seen as a viable competitor to the likes of the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
Anything else?
Having cutting-edge in-car telematics is all part of that appeal, hence the launch of the DS Connect module. Essentially, it's a DS-branded version of Citroen's existing Multicity Connect, an on-board app store that mixes in-car access to such things as Twitter and Wikipedia with online bookings and reservations. The DS Connect system adds a couple of tweaks to that list, and currently includes automatic emergency calls in case of a crash and an electronic vehicle service book, which can be looked up online. Next year, it will also get the full Neeson package, with a tracking beacon that can either find your car if it's nicked or simply guide you back to it in a crowded multi-storey car park.
