What are we looking at?
This is the Audi Prologue, a car that looks ahead both to a new A9 Coupe, which will be Audi's riposte to the Merc S-Class Coupe, as well as the next-generations of A4 and A6. This is the template from which pretty much all future Audis will draw.
What's the best thing about it?
It has to be the styling really. From that low, wide grille to the slim laser projection headlights to the kicked up bootlid spoiler, this is a seriously handsome car. If all Audis to come are going to look this good, then we're happy. Under the delectable skin is a new version of Audi's 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 (now with 600hp, yet 32mpg and 199g/km of Co2 thanks to cylinder deactivation tech) and a new five-link suspension setup that includes air springs for variable ride height and four-wheel-steering. Audi says around 80 per cent of the Prologue will make it through to production - here's hoping.
Show stopper or filler?
Stopper, but in an understated, precise fashion.
