What are we looking at?
The Lexus LF-C2 concept, previewed last week in one of those annoying teaser images and now revealed in all its glory at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Which is over in that there US of A. It's likely that the LF-C2 will morph into an RC Cabrio if it goes into production.
What's the best thing about it?
It has no roof. Like none at all. The 2+2 LF-C2 concept is an out-and-out roadster, whereas the impracticalities of such a thing for the roads of the real world means some sort of fabric or hard-top folding mechanism will be required for any open RC. The body is designed to make the most of a wide variety of lighting conditions, with the golden yellow paint applied in a five-coat finish involving silver underneath the yellow to increase its reflectivity. At the front is a more 'experimental expression' of Lexus' current spindle grille corporate face, which features a braided mesh finish.
Show stopper or filler?
Show stopper. The RC F is currently muscling its way into the performance coupé big league and an open-top version would do battle with the likes of the BMW M4 Convertible and Audi RS 5 Cabrio, which can surely only be A Very Good Thing.
