Audi's new Q7 gets high tech cabin

New Audi Q7 gesture controlled interior revealed at CES.

Gesture control, a high-speed LTE internet connection and bespoke tablets for the back seat passengers. Those are the highlights of the new Audi Q7 cabin, which was unveiled today (6 January, 2015) at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It's not the first time Audi has revealed a new high-tech cabin at the CES - the current TT interior was shown off there last year before we knew what the actual car looked like.

Like the TT, conventional instruments are out and in comes the full-width TFT screen instrument panel with Google Maps aided satnav. Unlike the TT though, there's also a big central digital screen. This one massive OLED unit features gesture control so you can wave your hands around to change the radio station or bump up the cabin temperature.

There's also a high-speed data connection courtesy of Qualcomm, and the Q7 will be the first Audi to feature Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto as options - streamlining and easing the connection between car and driver's phone.

All the tech isn't just up front either - the rear seat passengers get exclusive new Audi tablets that clip into the head rests. They can stream videos and can connect to the central infotainment system too.

Anything else?

The new Audi Q7 goes on sale later this year. Read more about it here.
