See this face? Get used to it because the styling of the Cross Coupé GTE concept is going to be used on the next Tiguan, the next Touareg and a new seven-seat SUV that Volkswagen is planning for the US market, which will be built in Tennessee.
Under the striking skin (which shows that the next Tiguan will be significantly bigger than the current model) the Cross Coupé rides on the same MQB chassis that underpins the current Golf, Passat and many more. Power comes from a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine tied into a plug-in-hybrid drivetrain that uses two electric motors, which can be charged from the mains for brief electric-only hops.
Anything else?
Inside, there's wall-to-wall blue-tinted Nappa leather, which is unlikely to see the inside of a showroom, as well as a 10.3-inch central infotainment screen that features Gesture Control (as shown off in a special Golf R Touch last week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas) and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, which most certainly will see the inside of a dealership.
