The Audi Prologue concept, which was revealed at last year's LA Auto Show, hinted at the future design direction for Audi's larger saloon models like the A6, A7 and A8 - it also gauged the appetite for an A9 coupé.
New sketches from Audi have appeared online that illustrate a new Prologue Avant, which is set to make its public debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show. According to our trusted sources, this new iteration of the Prologue is a good indication of what the future A6 Avant is expected to look like.
At the front of the car the large hexagonal grille and LED headlights featuring a new signature remain unchanged. The rear of the Prologue Avant depicts a re-working of the usual Audi estate style and gets a more raked design. Twin exhausts are highlighted by an aluminum-look surround that actually begins at the intakes at the front of the car, extending along the car's lower sills before continuing into the rear bumper. Its lengthy wheelbase helps to give the car a shooting brake style as the rear doors blend into the clearly defined rear haunches.
Unlike the highly machined and detailed 22-inch alloys wheels that the original Prologue concept sat on, this Prologue Avant wears a sportier five-spoke version that are an evolution of the current rotor design available on some models.
Anything else?
Don't expect to see a production version of either Prologue concept appearing in showrooms too soon. The first model that is likely to show influence from them will be the new AUdi A8. The current A8 was last updated in 2013, but an all-new model is expected in 2016.
