Well, Jaguar sky lifted an XE into London in September for that model's unveiling, so it is keeping up the daredevil theme with its reveal of the all-new XF - which will perform a high-wire water crossing on March 24th in the English capital.
In the hands of British stuntman Jim Dowdell, whose credits include work on action films including James Bond, Jason Bourne and Indiana Jones, the XF will drive across two 34mm-diameter wires suspended way above water (presumably the Thames) to 'highlight the lightweight and agile credentials' of the car.
The original XF was introduced in 2007 and is Jaguar's best-selling model in the current range, so it needs to be good. It is completely new from the ground up and is the second Jaguar, after the XE, to feature aluminium-intensive architecture. Jag is already claiming fuel economy figures in excess of 70mpg (4.0 litres/100km) for some models, apparently making it 'class-leading'.
Ian Callum, Jaguar's director of design, said: "I believe the all-new XF will be the best looking car in its class. Elegant, handsome and with proportions that imbue a great sense of integrity - the all-new XF will be true to the strong tradition of sporting Jaguar saloons while being completely of its time."
Jaguar also says the XF will offer 'exceptional levels of technology, refinement, luxury and comfort'.
Anything else?
The high-wire crossing will be streamed live globally from 7pm GMT on March 24th ahead of the proper debut of the XF on April 1st at the New York Show. You can watch the live streaming here.
