Volkswagen launches new Touran and Sharan

Updated Touran starts at €27,495. New Sharan starts at €44,725.

Volkswagen has launched two new MPV offerings to the Irish market - the Touran and Sharan.

The Touran range is made up of two diesel engines, with three different power outputs: a 1.6-litre 90hp TDI, 1.6-litre 105hp TDI and a 2.0-litre 140hp TDI. All engines are in VRT Band B. Seven seats feature as standard. There are a choice of two trims: Trendline and Comfortline.

Volkswagen has dropped the entry price of the Touran by €3,655 and the range now starts at €27,495. The volume model, the 105hp 1.6 TDI, is now €935 less than the previous volume model, starting at €30,995.

The Sharan features twin sliding doors, a seven-seat configuration and a choice of six-speed manual or DSG gearboxes. This is a brand new model and there is a 20 percent fuel consumption and CO2 reduction compared to its predecessor.

There are just two engines, both 2.0-litre diesels with 140- or 170hp. Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trims are available. The Sharan features an easy-fold system, which allows all seats to be folded flat if necessary.

Pricing starts at €41,990 for the 2.0-litre 140hp TDI and €44,725 for the 2.0-litre TDI Comfortline model.
