One-off Skoda Fabia Funstar to make debut at Wörthersee.

If you remember the Skoda Felicia Fun, then you will have some affection for this - it is the Fabia Funstar pick-up and it is heading to the big Volkswagen festival in Wörthersee in mid-May.

Every year, the Volkswagen Group comes up with some outlandish creations for this massive Austrian show and this is Skoda's 2015 effort. The Funstar is a one-off based on the third-generation Fabia platform, which - unlike practically everything else in the group - is not based on an MQB chassis.

It's powered by a 122hp version of the excellent 1.2 TSI four-cylinder engine, here mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox. It runs on 18-inch alloys from an Octavia RS and has green accents all over it, as that is the corporate colour of the Czech firm. Strange, then, that the green on the Funstar is not the correct Skoda hue...

Anything else?

Said to be a working concept, the Funstar was thought up and built by a team of 17- and 18-year-old students from Skoda's vocational academy. The same place was responsible for last year's Skoda Wörthersee entry, the Citigo-based Citijet.
