Skoda is going to bring along an estate rally car to the massive Wörthersee festival in Austria next week, as a celebration of its Fabia R5 winning its first competitive event.
The Fabia R5 Combi show car will be presented at the huge Austrian show, which is an annual celebration of all things Volkswagen (and, by extension, anything made by the Volkswagen Group). Painted in a green, white and black livery, and wearing 18-inch alloys, the Combi has large bumpers front and rear, huge air intakes in the nose, a massive rear spoiler and a central, fat exhaust pipe. It is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol, driving all four wheels through a five-speed sequential transmission.
The R5 Combi will be part of a five-car Skoda line-up at Wörthersee, with the 'original' Fabia R5 sitting alongside it.
Anything else?
At the end of April, the Fabia R5 won the opening round of the Czech Rally Championship in the hands of Jan Kopecky. Its victory at the Sumava Klatovy Rally is as good a reason to celebrate as any, so naturally the obvious thing to do is, er... make an estate version of your rally-winner and take it along to a tuning show on the shores of an Austrian lake.
