The new DS 5 has officially gone on sale in Ireland, and is now devoid of any Citroen branding, as DS becomes a stand-alone entity.
Although not radically different, the new DS 5 does gain a new front grille and DS has made some slight adjustments to some of the mechanical setup of the car, more of which can be read in our first drive review here.
Buyers in Ireland will have a choice of two trim grades, Elegance and Prestige. Adding to the higher Prestige trim will be a special '1955' edition, which is designed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the launch of the original DS. This model includes some unique touches including special designations on the side of the doors.
The DS 5 will only be offered with diesel engines, consisting of 120-, 150- and 180hp Blue HDi four-cylinder units, as well as a 200hp HYbrid4 Airdream version.

DS Ireland has yet to confirm any exact details as to its planned dealer network but it is envisioned that there will be four to five dedicated DS retail locations opening over the next few years. These are expected to be existing Citroen dealers although CompleteCar.ie believes that at least one new dealer is expected to be added to the network.
