Lexus drops turbocharged four into RC
Lexus RC 200t makes 245hp, 350Nm – will it come to Ireland?

Lexus is going to drop the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as seen in the NX 200t into its RC luxury coupé.

Currently in Ireland, we get the range-topping RC F - with its 5.0-litre V8 engine - but in other markets the 200t will join the F and the 3.5-litre, V6-powered RC 350 in a broader line-up. We're hoping it gets introduced here soon.

It would make sense to bring it here. In the RC 200t, the 2.0 makes the same 350Nm as in the NX 200t but has a very modest 7hp hike in power, now standing at 245hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift transmission.

The engine weighs just 160kg and features a twin-scroll turbocharger, water-cooled cylinder head with integrated exhaust manifold and advanced Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Wide, to ensure it delivers both performance and efficiency.

Anything else?

The RC 200t will be the fourth Lexus to get the 2.0 four-pot turbo unit, following the aforementioned NX, RX 200t SUV and IS 200t saloon.
