Fancy a hot Kia saloon? Of course you do and here we have just the thing - the Kia Optima GT.
It's set to be Kai's second production GT model, after the Cee'd GT, and it runs a specially designed 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection T-GDI engine - that's a petrol turbo to you and I.
It develops 245hp, 353Nm of torque and Kia says it will do the 0-100km/h sprint in 7.4 secondss, with a top speed of 240km/h. Fuel consumption is pegged at 8.1 litres per 100km and Co2 emissions are on the high-side - 191g/km.
Like all good super-saloons, the Optima GT has been engineered in Germany - at Kia's Frankfurt R&D base in fact, and underneath the glowering, sporty body kit, there's a massively updated chassis. The Optima GT will get its own unique suspension settings compared to standard models in the Optima range, and will be fitted with a new Electronically-Controlled Suspension system, to provide individualised damping force to each wheel. Larger disc brakes and a tailored version of Kia's new rack-mounted motor-driven power steering (R-MDPS) will further improve the Optima GT's dynamic performance.
The regular new Optima goes on sale in Ireland in mid-November.
