SsangYong's flagship vehicle, the Rexton, has been updated and is available now to order in Ireland.
Exterior
There are three versions of the Rexton W to choose from: a two-seat commercial vehicle, five-seat utility option and a limited edition seven-seat passenger variant. Each model can be finished in three new colours: Dandy Blue, Techno Grey or Jazz Brown. The Rexton rolls on new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and has a redesigned upright grille with new headlights made to resemble the eyes of an eagle according to its make. These also include LED daytime running lights.
Interior
Inside, there's a new steering wheel and centre console. There is a built in power jack on the upper dash for additional navigation systems and heated front and first row rear seats, while rear parking sensors are standard on all models. There are new chrome door locks too and a new remote folding key. There is also the option of beige and black leather seats, instead of the standard black.
Mechanicals
The main mechanical update here is new independent rear suspension. The three versions of the Rexton W can be had with either six-speed manual or five speed automatic transmissions. A 2.0-litre diesel engine (tagged 'RX200e-XDi') powers all models with maximum power of 155hp at 4,000rpm and up to 360Nm of torque. SsangYong quotes a torque output of 190Nm at 1,000rpm, which should be useful for towing. Speaking of which, the Rexton W has a braked weight towing capacity of 2,700kg.
