Electric Volvo crashed

Volvo demonstrated how safe its electric C30 is in Detroit.

To prove the safety of its electric vehicles Volvo has shown a crashed C30 Electric on its stand at North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The car has been subjected to a 65km/h offset frontal crash test.  After the impact Volvo claims the key electric components of the C30 were undamaged.

By showing how the batteries and cables remain intact Volvo hopes customers will be reassured that it hasn't compromised its safety standards.

According to the company president, "We are the first car maker in the world to show what a truly safe electric car looks like after a crash."
