What's the news?
Dublin-based Harris Group has secured the distribution rights for both the UK and Ireland for LDV commercial vehicles. Today (13 January, 2016) marked the return of the LDV to Irish shores with the launch of the new V80 model.
The LDV V80 is manufactured in China by SAIC Maxus, which is part of the Shanghai Automotive Industrial Corporation. The V80 is currently available in four variants: Short Wheel Base, Low Roof (SLR); Long Wheel Base, Medium Roof (MMR); Long Wheel Base, High Roof (LHR) and Chassis Cab (CC). The vans have a gross vehicle weight of either 3,200kg or 3,500kg and a load capacity of 6.9- to 11.4 cubic metres. Two standard pallets can be carried in tandem in the load area of all models as the distance between the wheel arches and rear barn doors is 1,380mm.
Standard safety equipment across all V80s includes dual airbags, rear parking sensors, anti-lock braking, remote central locking, air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth, exterior mirror indictors and front fog lamps. Three colours are offered: Blanc White, metallic Lava Grey and metallic Aurora Silver.
Mechanicals
The V80 vans are powered by a Euro 5b compliant, transversely mounted, 2.5-litre turbodiesel four-cylinder engine, designed by Italian company VM Motori. It produces 136hp at 3,800rpm and 330Nm of torque between 1,800- and 2,600rpm. The vans come with a six-speed manual gearbox with a high-mounted shift lever.
Anything else?
All LDV V80 vans come with a five-year or 200,000km warranty and five years of roadside assistance cover as standard. The LDV V80 starts at €21,300 including VAT.
