What's the news?
An official sketch released today, has lifted the lid on how the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet will look. The new soft-top will make its official debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show at the beginning of March.
The new car looks very much like a scaled-down version of the stunning S-Class Cabriolet, particularly around the rear end. Judging by previously seen photographs of the car in development the new C-Class Cabriolet will feature a more traditional fabric roof. This will fold away completely underneath an almost totally flat rear valance but should leave enough room for a sufficiently useful bootspace.
Inside the seating arrangement is not expected to differ greatly from the existing C-Class Coupé. Although the coupé might not be overly spacious in the rear, being able to open the roof on the cabriolet version should make it more enjoyable for rear passengers.
Anything else?
In addition to what should be largely the same engine lineup as the coupé there could also be a soft-top version of the hugely impressive Mercedes-AMG C63. That car has already spawned a coupé, estate and saloon version, so naturally there will be demand from a cabriolet to let owners hear that 510hp 4.0-litre V8.
