What's the news?
This is the Subaru XV Concept from the Geneva Motor Show, and while it might morph into the next generation XV crossover on its own, it also previews the look of all forthcoming models from the Japanese brand.
Subaru calls this design philosophy 'Dynamic X Solid', which sounds a bit pretentious to us, but the result is a car with a 'solid, robust appearance' and a raised ground clearance, which is supposed to remind you of the carmaker's prowess when it comes to all-wheel drive. Mind you, Sonic Blue Mica paint and gold alloys would do pretty much the same job.
We'll save you from the broader themes of what each and every swage, crease and defining line is supposed to signify in designer-speak, and instead simply say this: we think it looks pretty damn smart.
Anything else?
Aside from the general design details, here are some of the specifics of the XV Concept. It's 4,520mm long, 1,920mm wide, 1,570mm tall and it has a 2,670mm wheelbase. The marque's 'hawk-eye' headlamps remain and they're echoed in the shape of the rear clusters, while the colour of this car is a new blue-grey shade developed to evoke 'the appearance of glacier ice'. Probably why it's called Glacier Khaki Silica, then. Also note the orange flashes on the grille, both bumpers, the roof rails and those lovely 19-inch aluminium wheels.
