McLaren carbon-weave bodied MSO Carbon Series LT

McLaren carbon-weave bodied MSO Carbon Series LT
25-off special versions of the 675LT have visible carbon bodies.

What's the news?

What's the news? Oh not much, just this GORGEOUS VISIBLE CARBON WEAVE McLAREN THAT'S ALL. Sorry, we may have gotten a bit too excited there, but McLaren is going to make 25 of these MSO Carbon Series LT supercars, based on the 675LT, one of the best things ever to roll on four wheels.

There are no mechanical changes, so you get the same 3.8-litre turbo V8 with the same 675hp, 2.9 seconds 0-100km/h time, and 326km/h top speed. That's all unchanged from the 'regular' (if that's quite the right word) 675LT Coupe.

What is different is that the body, which has always been made of carbon-fibre, is now more obviously, gloriously so. As with the 675LT Spider, the front bumper with larger splitter and end plates, front under body, side skirts, side intakes, lower side intakes, rear bodyside lower, rear fenders, rear deck, rear bumper, diffuser and 'Longtail' Airbrake are all carbon fibre but with a gloss finish, and a visible carbon fibre weave, inspired by the P1 carbon series car shown off at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

According to McLaren: "in total, the MSO Carbon Series LT features around 40 percent additional carbon fibre parts over the standard car, requiring significant additional development work by the team of MSO craftsmen. It is therefore not possible to retro-fit the gloss carbon fibre body to an already ordered 675LT Spider and the 25 units supplement the previously announced 500 editions of the standard car that sold out in weeks after the car's debut on December 4, 2015." So pony up the cash for a new one, please.

Of course, these are very exclusive cars, and only the third modern McLaren to wear the 'LT' badge, following the 675LT Coupe and 675LT Spider. Even more exclusively, of course, the original McLaren F1 supercar came in an LT or Long Tail, version but those were mostly designed to race at Le Mans...
