Pebble Beach version of BMW 2002 Hommage liveried up.

What's the news?

BMW has slapped a lovely orange-and-black, tongue-in-cheek 'Turbomeister' pseudo-racing livery onto its sublime 2002 Hommage, presenting the resulting vehicle at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance over in California.

Following in the footsteps of 2015's 3.0 CSL Hommage - which was shown at the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance last May, ahead of a 3.0 CSL Hommage R version appearing at last August's Pebble Beach extravaganza - the 2002 Hommage was already displayed in Italy earlier this year, in a fetching blue finish.

But now we've got it wearing racing paintwork that harks back to the Jägermeister BMWs which competed on track in the 1970s and 1980s, while the 'Turbomeister' wording highlights the key role the original 2002 Turbo played in the company's progress with forced induction.

Nothing really has changed for this orange-and-black 2002 Hommage, so it's still based on the BMW M2 and it still looks absolutely sen-bloody-sational. If only it, and the CSL Hommage, could go into production somehow. Aah, we can dream!

Anything else?

Karim Habib, head of design for the German manufacturer, said of the latest show-stopper: "The BMW 2002 Hommage celebrates the extraordinary feats of engineering on which BMW turbo technology is based and reinterprets them in the form of a design study. With its iconic orange/black paintwork, the car has a colour scheme and livery synonymous in the minds of many motorsport fans with the triumphs of the 1970s."
