What's the news?
Cadillac is going to whip the covers off a new concept car, called the Escala, at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, which will preview the company's design going forward.
Designed as a 'larger, more elite and expressive companion' to the marque current flagship, the CT6, the Escala has a liftback design and is a substantial 5,347mm long. It features organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), 22-inch wheels with two layers of spokes and a 4.2-litre twin-turbo V8 which can run on four cylinders when it needs to, and which drives the rear wheels.
Inside, there's said to be a 'dual personality' interior with the front seats dominated by an intense focus on modern technology, while the rear seats are a relaxation zone. The Escala has three curved OLED screens on the console, on which all the driving data and in-car information is displayed.
Anything else?
"This concept shares how Cadillac will bring forward a new experience that is uniquely American, and unmistakably Cadillac," says Andrew Smith, executive director of Cadillac Global Design. "Escala is an expressive symbol of reward and an exhilarating driving experience. On the interior, we pushed further. It's about precision and ingenuity in craftsmanship, and the artistic integration of technology."
