Ford has revealed its plans for the Geneva Motor Show. Most intriguing is the promise that a 'groundbreaking new vehicle' will be unveiled.
Also making its world debut is the Ranger Wildtrak. Described as a 'sporty compact pickup' it will go on sale towards the end of 2011.
Some of the exhibits are making their European debut having appeared at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January. The Vertrek concept is based on Ford's C-segment platform and shows the direction of the next generation Kuga.
The Focus Electric also appeared at NAIAS; it is the company's first electric passenger car. Ford promises it will introduce features that encourage efficient driving and maximise driver enjoyment. A range of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehicles will go on sale in Europe from 2012.
Continuing the electric theme are the C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid and C-MAX HEV. Both promise low fuel consumption and emissions combined with a flexible interior.
Rounding out the battery-powered line-up is the Transit Connect Electric. A fleet of these vans is currently on test and it will go on sale later this year.
The Mondeo ECOnetic showcases the company's latest powertrain enhancements for the Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy. Start-stop is combined with a 1.6-litre, 115hp diesel engine for CO2 emissions of 114g/km.
Finally, the Fiesta World Rally Car in team livery will be on display.
The 81st Geneva Motor Show opens to the press on March 1 and runs until the 13th of the month.
