Rear-drive and turbo V8 engine for Ferrari's four-seat coupe.

What's the news?

It may not be quite appropriate to describe a new Ferrari (or any Ferrari for that matter) as entry-level, but that's kind of what the new GTC4Lusso-T is; it ditches the 6.3 V12 engine and four-wheel drive of the more senior FF replacement in favour of the 3.9-litre V8 turbo from the 488 and California and decides it can make do with rear-wheel drive.

Mind you, it's hardly what you'd call de-contented. It keeps the four-wheel steering of the V12 model, and the weight distribution has been shifted towards the back (46:54, front:rear) to give what Ferrari claims is superior agility.

It's hardly going to be slow either. How does 610hp and 760Nm of torque grab you? Allied to a specially tuned traction and stability control system that should make for quite the piquant performance. Ferrari also claims that the engine, thanks to some clever electronics and the Variable Boost Management system, should have zero lag. The 0-100km/h sprint is done in just 3.5 seconds and the maximum speed is said to be above 320km/h. Emissions are 265g/km and fuel economy works out around 25mpg, but most owners won't care much about those numbers.

Anything else?

Debuting at the imminent Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari GTC4Lusso-T should be a little cheaper than the V12 too. After all, it is an entry level model...
