What's the news?
Land Rover has just launched its Reborn Tour and Driving Experience, a behind the scenes look at the work of its Heritage and Reborn teams as they work to maintain and restore classic Land Rovers, as well as a peek at the famous Solihull factory where Land Rover was born.
Visitors can come and see classic Series I Land Rovers being rebuilt and restored from the ground up as part of the new Reborn programme, as well as experience the history of the factory and the story of the development of Land Rover, and especially the Defender and Series models.
There's a guided tour, insights into 1940s production techniques, and even a chance to take the wheel of a Defender on some of the off-road tracks that surround the factory. And yes, there will be refreshments served too.
Last year, Land Rover saw 10,000 people come in through the doors to see the exhibit that accompanied the winding down of Defender production, so it's clear that there is a keen interest from the public.
The Reborn programme, announced earlier this year, is rebuilding Series I Land Rovers to as-new standard for well-heeled customers, using Land Rover Classic Parts to preserve full authenticity. This includes the choice of five period finishes including Light Green, Bronze Green, RAF Blue, Dove Grey and Poppy Red.
Tickets for the tour have to be reserved and can be booked at: https://experience.landrover.com/manufacturing-tours/land-rover-reborn-tour.
