What's the news?
Driving on snow and ice can be a nerve-wracking experience for many. For others, it's the most fun you can have behind the wheel of a car, apart from the occasionally unnerving sensation of being completely out of control at 10km/h of course...
If you've ever wondered what it would be like to slither around in a supercar on a frozen surface (who hasn't?) then McLaren has the answer. Sensing an opportunity in the post-Christmas holiday market, the company's experience division Pure McLaren is offering an ice driving experience set in Northern Finland, over 300km inside the Arctic Circle. Professional instructors will be on hand to teach everything from basic skills to advanced techniques in specially-prepared 570S Coupes, with the comfort of a forgiving snow bank to cushion the hit in case it all goes pear-shaped. That's quite a possibility with 570hp on tap.
The experience isn't all about hooning around however, as husky and snowmobile treks are also included in the three-night stay. You even get to stay in a luxury lodge (which formerly housed the Finnish President, no less) as the Northern Lights dance above... The experience takes place from January 15th through to February 3rd of next year with groups consisting of 14 guests. Prices start at a not-inconsiderate £12,500 (around €14,000) per person, but if you have your heart set on sliding a McLaren around on the snow like a loony it's the only way to go. Other than buying yourself a 570S and praying for a cold snap of course...
