What's the news?
Volkswagen is readying a 'mid-sized' SUV for the US market, which is based upon the CrossBlue plug-in hybrid concept of the 2013 Shanghai Show, and now it is previewing the machine in an eight-part video series.
Likely to be called the Atlas, this big newcomer fits in between the Tiguan and Touareg in the German carmaker's range, although confusingly this will be a seven-seat vehicle - the 'bigger' Touareg is only a five-seater.
No word yet on anything technical in this video but it gives a little background into the rationale for launching this machine in the States. What you can see from the teaser shot at the end is that it wears the more angular, sharp-edged styling of the wider Volkswagen Group - which we've seen on the all-new Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq and Audi Q7 - rather than the softer, more rounded appearance of the elderly Touareg.
