What's the news?
Honda is developing a new all-terrain vehicle (ATV) called the Pioneer that will be its first-ever Side-by-Side (SxS) utility machine.
Said to be more practical than a quad bike yet more manageable than a full-size 4x4, the Pioneer will be available as either a two- or a four-seater machine when it launches some time in 2017.
It's powered by a 700cc Honda engine and uses the Japanese company's extensive know-how in ATVs, which the firm says allows the Pioneer to 'open up a world of possibility for both business and leisure users who need an ATV that will take them to even the most hard-to-reach places'.
Furthermore, the launch of the Pioneer should help commercial operators meet the requirements of the European Two Man Working Directive - where at least two people are required to be present when working in dangerous conditions - without needing to resort to sending out two vehicles.
Anything else?
Honda spokesman Steve Morris said: "The Pioneer is a fantastic vehicle that will strengthen Honda's ATV offering significantly. The Pioneer also sets a new benchmark for an SxS ATV. Our engineers and designers have developed it from the wheels up with the same attention to detail they would any Honda vehicle. This means users will benefit from new levels of comfort, refinement, agility and handling as well as the superior performance and aftersales care for which Honda is known."
