What's the news?
Skoda Ireland has begun a recruitment drive for vehicle technicians and service and sales executives. A total of 80 new positions are up for grabs in the next four years, with 20 due to be filled by the end of this year.
It's part of a €400,000 investment in Skoda's Irish operations, which will include the recruitment of apprentice technicians, sales executives and parts and service advisors.
Speaking about the investment, David Rave, Head of After Sales at Skoda Ireland, said: "This is a significant investment for us at Skoda and one that we see as being extremely worthwhile. Skoda is seeing an unprecedented level of growth in Ireland at the moment which is fantastic news for us but unfortunately, there's a shortage of suitably qualified technicians across the motor industry as dealerships weren't in a position to invest in training during the recession. With this investment in training, we want to ensure that we're attracting the most talented people to work for Skoda in Ireland so we can continue to provide the same excellent level of service that we've built our reputation on.
"We're rolling out training schemes for a variety of roles and we are particularly proud of the offering we have for apprentice technicians. Traditionally it would have taken seven years to become a fully qualified Skoda technician but with this new scheme, apprentice technicians can complete their training fully within four years so it's a really attractive prospect.
"If you or anyone you know has an interest in these trainee positions we would urge you to apply. We take career development very seriously at Skoda and with jobs like these, plus the capacity for growth, development and promotion, we can give you an innovative, positive and deeply rewarding career for years to come."
Better get busy though. November 30th is the closing date for applications and interviews are due to be held in December. You'll find more details on skoda.ie/careers.
