What's the news?
Inspired by the 'By McLaren' personalisation model, McLaren has asked its designers create five different versions of the 570S, entitled Design Editions. These each consist of colour combinations and trim options tailored to complement one another on the Woking firm's Sport Series model.
Exterior
Vermillion Red paint adorns Design Edition 1, with some nice touches such as the diamond-cut finish on the five-spoke wheels, red brake calipers and a stealth exhaust. Four other colour options are available, namely Onyx Black, Storm Grey, Ventura Orange and Silica White.
Interior
Design Edition 1 sees black Alcantara and red and black Nappa leather dominate the interior, with grey stitching, a matching two-tone steering wheel and McLaren branding on the leather-lined sill completing the look. Again, trim colour changes depending on the Design Edition specified and customers can also personalise their own car further with carbon fibre detailing and other trim and equipment options.
Anything else?
This is a purely cosmetic exercise, so there's no change to the thundering 3.8-litre V8 engine or any other mechanical components. McLaren states that while the Design Edition cars will carry a price premium over the standard model, they actually work out cheaper than if you were to spec a regular 570S up to the same level, and cars are now available to order for 2017 delivery. We guess that you could almost call it good value...
