What's the news?
MINI will take the opportunity of the 2016 Essen Motor Show to present the new range of upgrades available for all its models that come under the Original Accessories by John Cooper Works (JCW) banner.
These additional extras all focus in improving the engine output, suspension, aerodynamics, exterior styling and interior finishing of any MINI model, with the items all taking inspiration from the range-topping JCW variants themselves.
Fronting the MINI stand at Essen will be said JCW model, the 231hp turbocharged hatchback featuring all the regular JCW accoutrements - like a sports exhaust, Brembo brakes and an aero kit - as well as a few retrofit optional extras, like a valve exhaust silencer system and a JCW coilover suspension kit that's adjustable in height between 10- and 30mm.
Confusing the MINI line-up slightly is a tuning kit for the Cooper S Hatchback, 5-Door and Convertible models, which ramps up power from the standard 192hp to a healthy 211hp. It features the aforementioned exhaust valve upgrade and a JCW sports brake system with four-piston front callipers, but it does mean you mustn't get your wires crossed when thinking about a MINI Cooper S John Cooper Works with 211hp, or a MINI John Cooper Works with 231hp...
Additional items offered in the Original Accessories by JCW range include exterior styling items in black or carbon fibre, graphics and side stripes for the bodywork, a Track Fix mount for GoPro cameras, a JCW leather sports steering wheel, a JCW sports gear knob in leather/chrome, LED door sill finishers, and more trinkets such as door pins and key ring fobs.
