What's the news?
The current generation of BMW's 6 Series has been around since 2011, and with a new model expected to arrive in 2018, the Bavarian marque has decided to add a few more cosmetic options in an attempt to keep the big GT looking fresh. These will be available across the three body styles of Coupe, Gran Coupe and Convertible.
Sonic Speed Blue metallic paint can be specified for the exterior, along with 20-inch M alloy wheels with a double spoke design and a two-colour finish when the M Sport package is selected. Carbon fibre trim appears in the cockpit, which was previously reserved for the M6 variant, as were the colour and wheel options.
That's pretty much the size of it, so the same engine choices of six-cylinder petrol or diesel powerplants and a V8 petrol remain, all of which are coupled to ZF's proven eight-speed automatic gearbox. The xDrive all-wheel drive system is optional across the board and the interior features the usual connectivity and comfort features with some updates to the ConnectedDrive system.
A pretty mild update then, but if you want to see it in the flesh, the 6 Series will be on display alongside the new 5 Series and others from the BMW range at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit next month.
