Renault Group has recorded a good end to 2016 with increased orders in November leading to an 11.4 percent market share for the month.
Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) sales have also been strong; taking 16.3 percent of the market to be the third most popular brand.
The figures indicate that 2017 will get off to a good start with new car orders for January registration up 25 percent on this time last year.
In part, the success is down to sales of the new Kadjar, the Clio, the introduction of the new Megane and Phase 2 of the Dacia Duster. January will see the arrival of the Phase 2 Clio.
Sales were also boosted by the availability of finance through Renault Bank, which has been in business for just over five years.
For the year to date in excess of €195 million has been lent to Renault and Dacia Customers; up 62 percent on the same period in 2015. Promotional offers for new registrations included the 171 deal, introduced in November, with 3 percent APR, three years free servicing, and five years warranty and roadside assistance.
In 2017 Dacia will celebrate five years in Ireland. Phase 2 models of the Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Logan MCV will arrive in January. Sales for the affordable brand have reached nearly 4,500 so far in 2016.
Patrick Magee, Country Operations Manager, Renault Group said: "2016 has been a fantastic year for the Renault Group with the introduction of five new models, and a great overall performance across the two brands in the market. We are looking at a very positive 9.4 percent combined market share for year end and a 4th position place for the Group, with LCV on the podium again. 2017 has started strong with our Group order take up 25 percent for new cars, and up 10 percent on vans for January 171 registrations. It's been an exciting year for Renault with the youngest model range out there and we will be adding to this next year with all-new Koleos, Alaskan and ZOE Z.E. 40 which will have the longest range of any electric car, so overall a great outlook for the new year ahead".
