David Thomas new MD of Volvo Car Ireland

Experienced Volvo man takes up the helm in Ireland.

What's the news?

Volvo Car Ireland has appointed David Thomas as its new Managing Director, who will take up the position on 1 February. He takes over from Adrian Yeates, who has left the company to pursue other opportunities outside of the business.

Mr. Thomas comes to Volvo at a good time for the company, which posted a 28.3 per cent increase in retail sales in 2016 - the company's best year since 2008. Volvo is hoping to build on this momentum as more new models are introduced, the most recent of which being the V90 Cross Country.

Anything else?

No stranger to Volvo Cars, David Thomas has 22 years of experience with the company though various international posts. Previously he has held senior management roles including Managing Director of Russia, Regional Vice President, based in Sweden, Vice President Global Fleet and Managing Director of Switzerland. In his most recent role, he led the Customer Experience and Network for America.
