Rolls-Royce will creep up to the Geneva Motor Show with a zero emissions Phantom limo. How times have changed.
The 102EX, also known as the Phantom Experimental Electric (EE) in the halls of Goodwood, is a 'exploration into alternative drive-trains,' using which the company will '[seek] clarity on which alternative technologies may be suitable to drive Rolls-Royce motor cars of the future.'
In essence, then, Rolls-Royce will see if the reaction is "ooh" or "urgh" before either killing or nurturing the project.
To that end, Rolls-Royce will this week (w/c 21 Feb 2011) launch a website, www.electricluxury.com, to 'fuel a wider global debate seeking views on the question of electric luxury from media, VIPs and stakeholders.'
We're promised full technical specs at the car's launch in Geneva, after which the 102EX will go on a silent tour of Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America.
