Ford is introducing sporty versions of its mainstream model range under the ST Line badge, an attempt to copy the successful efforts of the likes of BMW's M-Sport and Mercedes' AMG-Line trims - standard (more or less) cars with sporting detailing.
The most affordable model is the Fiesta ST Line, which is also one of three petrol-engined cars in the range, using the 100hp 1.0-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder turbo unit. With Co2 emissions of 99g/km, it starts from €21,350.
The Fiesta, and indeed all ST Line models, get muscular bodykits, unique alloy wheel designs, sports seats and sports steering wheel and alloy covers for the pedals.
You can also get a Focus ST Line with the 125hp version of the same Ecoboost petrol engine, starting from €24,875 while there are two diesel Focus options - a 120hp 1.5-litre TDCI from €25,920 and a 2.0-litre TDCI with 150hp starting from €27,370.
Next up is the Mondeo ST Line, which comes in three versions - a five-door with the 2.0-litre 150hp TDCI for €34,295, the same car with the 180hp diesel for €36,845 and a 150hp estate for €35,495.
Finally, there's the Kuga SUV, which comes in 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol form, with 150hp, for €40,500 or you can choose from 120hp or 150hp 2.0-litre diesels from €36,145 and €38,725 respectively.
"With our new ST Line range even more customers can experience sporty style and driving dynamics inspired by our most exciting Ford Performance line-up ever, that includes models such as the Focus RS, Fiesta ST200 and Ford GT supercar" said Ciarán McMahon, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland. "With its sporty looks, extra powered engines and good value, I am sure our new ST Line range will appeal to a broad range of buyers.
"The new ST Line range will offer customers a chance to enjoy the famous fun-to-drive characteristics and great looks of Ford's performance models in an exciting and affordable package with a broad range of petrol and diesel engines."
