That place is Mondello Park, and thanks to the proliferation of track day events in recent years you can now pound the same tarmac as multitudes of racers do most weekends. One such upcoming day is set for March 20th, organised by Trackdays.ie. The full-day event will use the International circuit and will be run to an open pit lane format, meaning drivers can come and go on track when they want and for as long as they want.
But, we hear you ask, don't you need a stripped-out special to have fun? Not in the slightest. One of the best elements of track days is the sheer variety of machinery that turns up, and pretty much any car in roadworthy condition is suitable. It's also a great way to learn what your car can do in a safe and controlled environment.
Trackdays.ie also offer 'Arrive & Drive' packages, and with a race-prepared Honda Civic at your disposal and expert tuition provided, these options are ideal for beginners or those looking to brush up on their skills.
The organisers aim to provide a track day experience quite unlike any other, and to that end lunch, all-day refreshments and free tuition are all included with the entry fee. There's also professional photographers on hand to capture your best (or worst) moments.
