What's the news?
If you've recently bought a Mercedes-AMG C 63 Cabriolet and found yourself thinking, "hmmm, this is lovely, but I wish it was a bit faster", then fear not. Help is at hand from renowned Mercedes tuner Brabus, and they've turned everything up to eleven.
Exterior
A bigger carbon fibre front spoiler and some new sideskirts have benefited from wind tunnel development, and Brabus claim that these additions contribute toward a reduction in front axle lift at speed. Carbon also adorns the door mirrors and the reshaped rear diffuser, while 20-inch forged alloys round off the rather menacing look.
Interior
Brabus-specific aluminium gearchange paddles nestle behind the steering wheel, while blue detailing punctuates the predominantly leather trim. The pedals are aluminium, and some carbon fibre also finds its way inside. The speedometer now reads to 340km/h, something that may come in handy when you consider the raw performance figures...
Mechanicals
New, bigger turbos are fitted to the 4.0-litre V8, and thanks to a 'PowerXtra' module plugged into the standard ECU, this means that 650hp and 850Nm are now available. The regular seven-speed automatic gearbox takes care of shifting, but thanks to the extra power and torque the 0-100km/h time has been slashed to 3.7 seconds. The 650 Cabrio will keep going until it hits 320km/h, so what we have here is a venerable supercar eater.
A stainless-steel sports exhaust with a quiet 'Coming Home' mode is also present, while uprated springs with ride height adjustment work in conjunction with the standard adaptive shock absorbers to help keep the show on the road.
Anything else?
Brabus offer a full warranty for peace of mind, and if you don't want to go the whole hog on your C 63 Cabriolet they can fit each upgrade in stages. It remains to be seen what a 320km/h wind might do to your hair however, but we're sure it would be fun to find out...
