What's the news?
It might not even be on our roads yet but already BMW is offering a range of M Performance accessories, which it debuted in Geneva, for the 5 Series Touring.
First up is a Power and Sound Kit for the 540i xDrive model, which throws in 20hp and 50Nm for new maximums of 360hp and 500Nm. Economy is quoted to be as good as 7.3 litres/100km (38.9mpg) while CO2 is kept reasonably low at 167g/km, with response and performance improved, although BMW doesn't say how by how much.
Part of kit is a new exhaust system for a sportier sound and that is also available on its own for the 540i and also the 530i Touring. Don't despair if you want a diesel, because the 520d, 530d and 530d xDrive variants all have their own M Performance exhaust options, which come with stainless steel trim finishers in either round or trapezoidal shape, according to the model.
Also offered are an M Performance sports brake system, 20-inch lightweight forged alloy wheels in a twin-spoke design, carbon fibre exterior aero parts (front splitter, rear diffuser and so on), carbon fibre styling additions, such as door mirror caps and radiator grilles, and various decals to beef up the looks.
Anything else?
Inside, an M Performance sports steering wheel in Alcantara is one of the options, which features a silver-grey cross-stitched seam and a red 12 o'clock marker.
