What's the news?
Mazda has taken the second-generation CX-5, as well as updated versions of the CX-3 and 2 hatchback, to the Geneva Motor Show.
The CX-5, which made its debut at the LA Show late last year, isn't a radical departure from the preceding model, in terms of styling, but that's probably a good thing because the CX-5 has always been a bit of a looker.
Skyactiv engines in both petrol and diesel forms will power the midsized crossover, and Mazda has also had a go at its signature Soul Red paint, adding 'Crystal' to the hue's name to reflect the fact this finish now has 'amplified depth and an almost gem-like translucency'. Quite.
Anything else?
Mazda is a company that has previous form in only very mildly tweaking its vehicles during a midlife facelift - see the recent 'overhauls' of the Mazda3 and Mazda6 for details - and you can bundle both the CX-3 and Mazda2 for the 2017MY into the same category. Visually, there's very little to note that's different, but inside new instrument clusters, cabin materials and the steering wheel of both cars have been switched to freshen up the ambience. These 2017 models should reach Irish shores by late summer.
