New Citroen C5 Aircross makes its global debut at the Shanghai Motor Show.

What's the news?

Citroen revealed its plans to expand its SUV range with the launch of the C5 Aircross at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show.

The C5 Aircross will be manufactured in China by Dongfeng Citroen and goes on sale there later this year. It will also be built in Europe and will be available in 2018.

The C5 Aircross is described as a 'people-minded SUV' with plenty of interior room and the latest technology to give owners an easier, safer drive. Marking the latest step in the 'Citroen Advanced Comfort' programme the new model uses a new suspension system with 'Progressive Hydraulic Cushions'.

China is a key market for Citroen and 250,000 cars were sold in the country in 2016. The C5 Aircross will be sold alongside the C3-XR SUV, a model that has found 150,000 buyers since its launch two years ago.

Anything else?

The C-Aircross Concept also made its Chinese debut in Shanghai; it previews the company's compact SUV, which will be called C3 Aircross when it is launched later this year. Citroen also showed the new C5 saloon for the Chinese market, which focuses on equipment and comfort.
